What the governing body did
On August 25, 2026, the Pinellas County Board of County Commissioners reached consensus to direct staff and the County Attorney's Office to bring forward a resolution reaffirming that data centers are not permitted as a primary use under the County Code. No vote was taken. The County Attorney advised that adopting a moratorium on a use already prohibited could create the impression that the use is otherwise allowed, and the Board did not adopt one. This was direction to staff; it was not adoption.
